Natitingou, BENIN
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
The project, based in Natitingou, Benin, tackles the significant challenges of plastic pollution, with a primary focus on single-use plastics. Despite the introduction of a 2017 law aimed at reducing plastic use, weak enforcement and limited public awareness have hindered its impact. The law predominantly targets plastic bags, neglecting other major sources of plastic pollution. The project aims to bridge these gaps through public awareness campaigns, an analysis of the 2017 law to improve enforcement and encourage behavioral changes, and creative initiatives for reusing plastic waste through collection and processing. Ultimately, the goal is to establish a sustainable business model to effectively combat plastic pollution.
