Support Ghana is an NGO that supports disadvantaged young people and villages of the Kpando district. In Ghana Emo Foundation NGO is the partner organization of Support Ghana. Emo Foundation was founded by students supported by Support Ghana. The two organizations share the same mission and goals, being the establishment of a developed Ghana by creating a larger civil society with conscious citizens. This is why the organization helps the district of Kpando to improve the quality of education, as well as to create employment.

About the project
First, let’s get to know Wisdom. Wisdom is a young man who is passionate about food and cooking. He started up a food delivery service about a year ago as a third income generating activity of Emo Foundation. The goal of the AFD students is to help Wisdom and Emo Foundation to upscale this catering project. The project will exist of a Wizzy’s food delivery service, a restaurant and a food truck. The catering project would make Emo Foundation more financially sustainable and would create more employment for the young people in Kpando.

your concrete goals:
For Wizzy’s food delivery service the AFD students would work on a marketing plan to promote the food delivery service in Kpando, this could include for example designing a website, investigating the possibilities for social media and setting up a menu. A bookkeeping tool is also essential. The restaurant will be the only decent restaurant in the town of Kpando. The plan is to open the restaurant during the summer of 2020, when the AFD students are on site. Therefore a marketing plan, a business plan and financial forecast are some of the things the AFD students will be working on.
As a third part of the catering service Emo Foundation would like to start one or more food trucks. The first step is to do a market research to assess the feasibility of a food truck. If this can be profitable, the AFD students can also help designing the food truck and starting up this side-project.
After an academic year of brainstorming and hard work, you will go to Kpando to implement everything during summer.
Who are we looking for?
This project team will require 5 highly motivated students with a hands-on mentality and a good knowledge of the English language. Students of all academic backgrounds are allowed to apply. However, for this project we are especially looking for students with backgrounds or special interest in:
Economics
Marketing
Communication management
ICT/Design
