About the project
In Uganda alcohol and drug abuse rates are alarmingly high in Uganda. In Kasese (the project region) it affects up to 36, 2% of the population, higher than the national and regional rates. Factors that have a big influence on the abuse are: peer influence, unemployment and tough circumstances. Drug abuse is responsible for teenage pregnancies, poverty, communal/domestic violence, and increased rate of criminality within the region.
With COVID -19 pandemic that hit the globe, the youth in Uganda and mostly those in Kasese district have had diverse effects. With closure of schools, businesses and girls having needs, most young girls have ended up pregnant after engaging in early sex looking being enticed by men offering gifts. In Sept 2020, there was a report that over 300 adolescent girls had been impregnated in one Sub County.
The offered solution is to establish a daytime group entrepreneurship training center dispensed by local University students with the help of foreign students. In this stress reduction & counselling center (SRCC) the AMAHA project offers an opportunity to have every beneficiary (Young Mothers & Adolescent Mothers) learn a vocation skill or life skill to live life to its fullness as they recover from misfortunes. Vocational skills like hairdressing, tailoring, knitting, and weaving are some of the skills the beneficiaries can choose from.
See how more classes can be integrated, at what cost and how we can make an optimal use of our budget. ADF students can also help SRCC in Proposal development and offer management skills for the organization to grow.
Then core deliverables are:
– Integration and interpret a SWOT analysis
– Integration of a financial plan
– Preparing a plan to integrate accountancy and English classes
– Assess the growth and make a strength-weaknesses evaluation
