About the project
Nowadays, it is difficult to buy original, local and handmade African objects online. Besides that, local craftsmen are heavily dependent on the seasonal tourist income. As the production grows year by year, there is more attention for the quantity rather than the quality. This results in a loss of cultural meaning of the techniques and skills transmitted from previous generations. Due to a confidentiality agreement, we can not release much specific information about this project yet. However, the main idea of this project is to create a subscription box, called Afro Boxes, in order to promote the culture and know-how of African craftsmanship through different local objects such as fashion accessories.
The COVID-19 pandemic has directly impacted the creative industry’s entire value chain (creation, production and distribution). Afro Boxes will join forces of the local community to protect cultural expression and create job opportunities for African artisans and other creatives.
OVO’s main goal is to highlight the diversity of cultural expression on the African continent, and to empower artisans and other creatives by opening new market places for them. In order to achieve this goal, this project will consist out of:
– Running an effective marketing research
– Developing an efficient logistics solution
– Conducting a business analysis
