Event Details

What will you be eating in 2050?

Our current food system is one of the biggest catalysers of the most pressing environmental issues. Moreover, the population keeps growing and growing, with less and less resources available. This is creating a big shortfall between the amount of food we produce today and the amount needed to feed everyone in 2050.

As incomes rise, people will increasingly consume more resource-intensive, animal-based foods. At the same time, we urgently need to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from agricultural production and stop conversion of remaining forests to agricultural land. This calls for questions on how to make our food production more sustainable. How will we sustainably feed a constantly growing population? And what is necessary to make changes to more sustainable forms of food production? How do we motivate our population to consume these sustainable alternatives?

Fortunately a lot of entrepreneurs and consumers are already challenging the way we currently think about, produce and consume food. Many people are adapting a vegan lifestyle, restaurants are putting insects on the menu, scientists are experimenting with lab grown meat and many entrepreneurs are finding solutions to reuse food waste.

By inviting several guest speakers that are paving the way, like @buggznl, we will explore the issues relating to the future of our food industry in an informative and interactive session. The end goal: becoming aware of what you eat!

The event is free, but seats must be reserved!
